Description

The idea was to develop a robotic crawling vehicle for testing the chains in situ below water. The vehicle would be automated, and sensitive to fatigue cracks, corrosion, bent chains and abrasion.

A software system was designed and developed in order to control robotic crawler motion and integrate various NDT inspection techniques using one easy to use control panel. Software was capable of displaying real time data from different NDT instruments as well as crawling vehicle position and status. Anti-collision algorithms were developed in order to avoid collision among different axis of crawling vehicle.
